A case of multiple brown tumors is reported. The patient presented with multiple bone pain. Plain radiographs, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated multiple lytic lesions of the skeleton and a TcMDP bone scan depicted multiple areas of increased uptake. All of these findings implicated multiple bone metastases. The pathology of femoral lesion revealed giant cell tumor of hyperparathyroidism (brown tumor). The patient underwent a resection of the parathyroid adenoma afterward. His symptom relieved while calcium normalized subsequently. After 5 years, Tc-MDP bone scan demonstrated amelioration of most lesions. We conclude that, in patients with similar findings of metastases of skeleton should be carefully re-evaluated for the presence of biochemical anomalies.

Severe Hyperparathyroidism with Secondary Osteitis Fibrosa Cystica and Brown Tumors Mimicking Bone Metastasis
Introduction: The classical presentation of primary hyperparathyroidism, osteitis fibrosa cystica, has become very rare nowadays. This rarity makes it sometimes misdiagnosed leading to disastrous outcomes. Methods: We present a case of an undiagnosed primary hyperparathyroidism with severe osteitis fibrosa cystica and brown tumors that was first misdiagnosed as having bone metastasis. Conclusio...
متن کاملMicrowave Tumor Ablation of Vertebral Bone Metastasis: A Case Report
Introduction: Thermal ablation by microwave (MWA) has proven efficacy in treatment of primary and metastatic cancers. Soft tissue tumors could be ablated completely using MWA. However, bony tissue metastasis particularly spinal vertebral metastasis ablation has not reported yet. Case presentation: A 50 year old male patient with primary diagnosed colon cancer undergone surgical resection of ...
متن کاملParathyroid cancer presenting with Brown tumours mimicking bone metastasis
Bone metastasis is the most common diagnosis considered for lytic lesions in the bone. Parathyroid cancer presenting as overt bone disease with diffuse lytic lesions secondary to untreated hyperparathyroidism (HPT) is a rare entity nowadays. We report the case of a 50-year-old Chinese lady who presented with diffuse bone lesions consistent with Brown tumours, vertebral body collapse and hyperca...
متن کاملAdenoid Cystic Carcinoma of the Buccal Mucosa with Rare Delayed Frontal Bone Metastasis: A Case Report
Adenoid cystic carcinoma (AdCC) is a malignant neoplasm, which accounts for 5-10% of all salivary gland tumors (1). About 50% of these tumors originate from intraoral minor salivary glands usually in the hard palate (1). Three clinically obvious characteristics of AdCC include slow growth rate, perineural invasion and high incidence of distant metastasis (1). The most commonly-affected sites of...
متن کاملA patient with a history of breast cancer and multiple bone lesions: a case report
BACKGROUND Long-term severe hyperparathyroidism leads to thinning of cortical bone and cystic bone defects referred to as osteitis fibrosa cystica. Cysts filled with hemosiderin deposits may appear colored as "brown tumors." Osteitis fibrosa cystica and brown tumors are occasionally visualized as multiple, potentially corticalis-disrupting bone lesions mimicking metastases by bone scintigraphy ...
